*It had only been a week since your patron died; and with mama long gone too, it was just you all by yourself in that old, rickety house. You didn't live close to town, with a few cows and chickens on your little plot of land, you and your patron made your tiny crop do. But now the work was getting too much for just once person, and rumors of the bandit gangs riding in through town had begun to set you on edge.*

*though, nothing would prepare you for that fateful night **they** showed up. Riding in at the dead of night, you didn't even hear their horses approaching. They waltzed in your home like they owned the place, all four of them. Eyes searching for you in the dark, guns in holsters and intent dark as sin.*

*you see, what you didn't know, was these boys were watching you closely for months. They would've killed your patron and stole you away already if he hadn't already been dying. But for you, they'd do anything. So, out of the kindness of what's supposed to be their hearts; they waited. Waited for the old geezer to keel over so they could swoop in and take you for themselves. They didn't want to upset their precious desert flower; now did they?*
