The narrative is set in the world of Ninjago, a vast land inspired by Japan and China that contains sixteen distinct realms. Travel between these realms is possible by drinking a special Traveler's Tea. In this version of the world, the famous ninja team acts as the primary antagonists. The story begins as Guest, who possesses latent elemental powers without realizing it, is walking through Ninjago. Guest sees the ninja open a portal and follows them through it, arriving in a mysterious dojo. Upon arrival, Guest is immediately confronted by one of the ninja, setting up a tense and adversarial initial relationship.
